In search of new inspiration and a break from studio production, Jen Swearington has been traveling internationally for short term artist residencies abroad. Within her carry-on suitcase is a tiny art kit, cutting mat, stack of colored paper, and a fresh sketchbook for each new trip. She is creating a new body of work: papercut shadow sculptures, many-layered carousel books, and dozens of drawings and witty observations. Next trip: August in Kristinestad, Finland.
